WELCOME TO COFFEE WITH GOD

UNDERSTAND PRAYER
To fully understand how to pray, you need to understand what God is saying about prayer. Many scriptures have been quoted wrong. The LORD’S PRAYER, given by Jesus, provides a model for us to pray:
The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
Jesus gave the Lord’s Prayer as an example of how to pray, in this prayer it covers everything. We address the Father, we call Him holy, we recognize He is King with a Kingdom that will come one day, we recognize His will is what will happen in the end no matter what man does, His will covers heaven and earth, it reminds us He “is our provider” and “our forgiver when asked”, He tells us we are to forgive others if we want Him to forgive us, and He reminds us that God does not tempt us with evil, that comes from the devil! Then in Matthew 6:14 He reminds us again how important forgiveness is!!! If we DO NOT forgive others, God will not forgive us! That is very powerful. Forgiveness is very important. Remember forgiving someone does not make the sin right, sin is always wrong, it is us giving the one that hurt us mercy, just as Jesus gave us mercy by dying on the cross!
In Philippians we are told not to worry, but to take everything to God in prayer. To thank God for what He has already done for us and trust Him to help us with our prayer need. What we must realize is God’s ways are not our way, He will answer each prayer, but the answer may not be what we think it should be. For God knows the future which we do not know. Philippians 4:6-7: do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Praying in the Spirit is another form of prayer, for people who do not understand the gift of tongues it is explained in many scriptures, in 1 Corinthians 12 we are told by Paul how to pray in the Spirit and what a gift that is. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:18 he prays in tongues more than anyone. It is a way to pray directly to God even though we do not understand what we are praying. This kind of prayer is to be done privately when we are alone with God. It is not for public prayer for Jesus said it can’t help people when they do not know what is being said. This verse below emphasizes always praying in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication, and keeping alert with perseverance, especially for the saints. Ephesians 6:18: praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints
HOW TO GET THE GIFT OF TONGUES
Private prayer to God in tongues: 1 Corinthians 14:2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. When we pray in tongues, we build up ourselves. 1 Corinthians 14:4b The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, there are many scriptures that teach about this gift of the Holy Spirit. You can pray and ask God for the gift of tongues if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and He will give you this gift. You will need to study about this gift from God as it would take to long for me to teach it in this lesson. This gift is powerful for your private prayer life.
In James 5 it highlights the power of prayer, urging believers to pray for one another and to confess sins to each other for healing. James 5:16: Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. Confessing our fault with others we trust will help us overcome the sin we face. It is a humble thing; we are not perfect and when we mess up if we confess it with the true desire to get forgiveness and stop doing it. One must stop sinning by confessing the sin and turning from it!
In 1 John 5 we are told that our prayers are heard by God. Prayers are subject to GOD’S WILL; this is important to understand. All our prayers are heard, and God listens to them, and He will help us with what we have prayed, but sometimes our prayer is not according to the will of God in our life or those we pray for. When you understand this fact, it will help you know your prayers are heard and God will work with you on the answers. When God states He answers all prayers, He did not say according to you, but according to His will. 1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. In seeing this truth, I pray it will help you understand that if you did not get the answer you wanted, it does not mean the prayer was not answered. The devil will try to convince you that God did not help you, he is a Liar the truth is not in him! John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Always know the truth of what the Bible is saying, study it, don’t just take a little and feel you know, look for more and learn the truth from the Bible. When you know the truth when you pray your prayers will be so much more powerful! Take time when you read the Bible to get the understanding of what it is saying by reading the whole chapter, sometimes the whole book of where this chapter is! It takes time to learn the truth of the Bible, it is the best time you will ever spend. It will truly change your life when you learn the truth of who God is and what God requires of us.
THE MESSAGE OF SALVATION IS FOR ALL
Romans 10:9-10 ESV because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
I pray everyone who reads this will seek to know God in the deep and wonderful way of Salvation, all who will accept Jesus as their Savior will receive Salvation and your name will be in the BOOK OF LIFE. Remember that accepting Jesus as Savior means repentance and change in your life!
