Defining Praise and Worship

Praise is listed 259 times in the KJV bible, so I would think that is pretty important!

Praise:  Is to thank God for what He has done for you, for the blessings given. Thank Him for His care and most of all for His Mercy & Grace.

Mercy  Is not getting what you deserve! (Punishment for sin)

Grace is getting something you don't deserve! (Eternal life & blessings)

We are to worship and thank God: Psalm 100:4-5 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Using scripture to praise Him is a wonderful way to give God praise. Colossians 3:16  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

God has called us to worship Him continually throughout the day. We do that by simply talking to God about what we see and do as we walk through our day. Hebrews 13:15  By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Worship is listed 188 times in the KJV of the bible, that makes it very important too:

Worship: To worship is to tell God how wonderful, awesome and great He is... How He alone created everything there is. We are to worship God in our spirit with thanksgiving for what He has done for us each day.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

We are to worship God and only God! Anything else is considered an idol.

Luke 4:8  And Jesus answered him, It is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.

We are to praise God. Praise is about God; worship is to God.

Praise is lifting up the word of God, worship is entering into the courts of God. Praise is boldly declaring, worship is humbly bowing in the presence of a Holy God. Praise applauds what God has done, worship is honoring God for who He is.

When we praise God from our hearts, we many times will go into worship as well. Praising... thanking God for His Grace, Mercy and Blessings takes us to the place of Worship because He is a Good God, He is a God who has provided life to all we see... God is LIFE, LOVE and The ONLY TRUE GOD, all others are idols.

Sometimes Praise and Worship flow together so closely we don't realize which one we are doing as we are just caught up in loving God. That is the key, LOVING GOD! Realize we are to LOVE God... it is what God wants.  God desires our expression of love for Him. We do that by Praise and Worship.

Prayer is simply talking to God and telling Him how we feel about Him and what He does for us. AMEN
